Looking for something fun, creative and engaging for your children to do this summer?
We are excited to offer the following classes:
Art Camp
Young artists will enjoy exploring the fundamentals of drawing and painting in a friendly and supportive environment. The goal of this program is to develop children's confidence in their ability to create expressive artwork. Students will use oil and soft pastels, watercolor, tempera, acrylics, and a wide range of other media.
In the older classes, we will cover subjects such as Landscape, Still Life, Portrait, and Cartooning.
Watch demonstrations, try interesting techniques and materials, and just have fun.
Instructors: Maha Salem (for ages 6-12) and Tammy Dyer (for ages 2.5-5)
Science and Nature Camp
Through fun, hands-on experiments and weekly lessons, children will gain an appreciation for (and a deeper understanding of) the world around them.
Themes will include "Plant Power" (2.5-4 yrs), "Out of This World" (5-8 yrs), and "Energy: Heat, Electric and Chemical" (ages 9-12).
Instructor: Tammy Dyer
Drama
Igniting the imagination was never so much fun! Me Gusta Kids Drama Classes are designed to activate creativity, promote teamwork and encourage communication skills. Each class, students help create stories, develop characters, learn theatre games and build self-confidence in an encouraging, playful environment.
Creative Writing
Me Gusta Kids Creative Writing Workshops offer a supportive environment where children engage in writing stories, poetry and plays. Through a series of hands-on activities, children discover the joys of writing, the intrigue of language, and the confidence of authorship.
Instructor (Drama and Creative Writing): Jason Long has been teaching Drama and English at Placer High School for 8 years. He holds Theater Arts degrees from UC Santa Cruz and UCLA. From 2001 to 2004, Jason performed with Blue Man Group in Boston, Chicago and New York.
French
Children are introduced to French language and culture through music, art, and other creative and fun learning tools.
Instructor: Susan Gibbs
French and Italian for Adults
Classes are directed to all of those who enjoy learning a foreign language and about other cultures, and also to those who would like to take a trip abroad and only have a few weeks to learn the basics.
The curriculum is customized to accommodate small group dynamics, and takes into account different learning styles. It engages all students and provides hours of learning and fun.
Instructor: Susan Gibbs
Book Club
Keep your 10-12 year-olds excited about reading all summer long! Children will also take part in a fun, cumulative project based around "Pictures of Hollis Woods."
